Welcome to the US Partnership for the Decade of Education for Sustainable Development

Our Goal

Literacy about our sustainability challenges and engagement in solutions as a societal norm in the United States.
The US Partnership consists of individuals, organizations and institutions in the United States dedicated to education for sustainable development (ESD). It acts as a convener, catalyst, and communicator working across all sectors of American society.

VISION:
Sustainable development fully integrated into education and learning in the United States.

MISSION:
Leverage the UN Decade to foster education for sustainable development in the United States.

K-12 SECTOR TEAM RELEASES NATIONAL SUSTAINABILITY EDUCATION STANDARDS
The K-12 Sector Team, working with sustainability experts nationally, created this set of standards for education for sustainable development.

FAITH GROUPS EXPLORE OPPORTUNITIES FOR REGIONAL COLLABORATION
An interfaith sustainability conference in southern Maine and New Hampshire was held in collaboration with the U.S. Partnership, September 22-23, 2007. The event, entitled, “Better Together: Fostering Interfaith Collaboration for Sustainability” focused on opportunities for collaboration among faith communities in the Piscataqua (Greater Portsmouth) Region.

ETHICS AND CLIMATE CHANGE RECEIVE SPOTLIGHT IN OCTOBER CONFERENCE
The International Environment Forum (IEF), in cooperation with the Bahá'í Community of Canada, held its 11th annual conference October 12-14 in Ottawa, ON, Canada on the theme, “Responding to Climate Change: Scientific Realities, Spiritual Imperatives.” Participants explored the relationship of ethical and spiritual principles to the practical actions of individuals and communities facing global environmental change. This was the fourth annual conference that the IEF has sponsored in observance of the UN Decade of Education for Sustainable Development.
